Book Review

Before I begin, a little update: My friend at work who was re-diagnosed with breast cancer went in for her operation and everything went perfectly. Yay! She's gonna be out for a while but she's doing as well as expected.

So, onto the review!

I began reading a book by Nancy Martin called "Have your cake and kill him too". It's surprisingly good! Its a part of a series of books (seven I believe so far) called the "Blackbird Sisters Mysteries". It can only be described as Nancy Drew meets Sex and the City. Yes. I said it. As weird as those two may sound together, it works; and it works well!

Nora, the main character, comes from an extremely wealthy family, including her two sisters: Libby and Emma. Nora finds herself broke, pregnant, and in the middle of a murder. To top it off, she's not sure who the father of her unborn child is! "She's got a personal life to untangle, and a killer to slap behind bars, before her grandmother's couture gets so sung that the Main Line gossips take notice." (A quote from the summary on the back)
The characters are a lot like Nancy, Bess and George only hyped up in drama and sex... sounds fun, right? If you like a good mystery mixed with Loius Vuitton handbags and Prada shoes you're in for a good read.

This isn't the first book in the series, so I'm not sure if theres any back story or not, but I'm going to find the first one and start from there. :)
Here's the order:
"How to Murder a Millionaire"
"Dead Girls Don't Wear Diamonds"
"Some Like it Lethal"
"Cross Your Heart and Hope to Die"
"Have Your Cake and Kill Him too"
"Crazy Little Thing Called Death"
"Murder Melts in Your Mouth"

Check 'em out!!

So, until next time,

Number 3??

You've all heard the saying "Bad things come in threes", right? Well I just hope '3' would hurry up and show its ugly face.

The last few days have been pretty painful. First, a breast cancer survivor that I work with was just re-diagnosed and then the next day I learned that my great-aunt on my father's side was given 6 months to a year to live. If those are just the beginning, I am absolutely dreading what will come next.

I'm usually a happy-go-lucky person but due to the last few days I've been finding it hard to put on a smile and be cheerful and I really hate being like that. I need to find something to do--something that will take my mind off everything. I'm sure I'll find something.

Anyway, I guess thats all for now... not a very good post/update but it's just something thats got me down and that I wanted to get off my chest hoping it would help a little.

So until next time,

Life Update

Hey fellow bloggers! I've been severely slacking in the blog department lately, but to be honest, there hasn't really been anything to blog about. The last few weeks have included nothing but work and sleep, but \i shall try to re-cap you on anything that should be mentioned...

So I suppose the first thing on the docket would be that I finally bought a Nintendo WII. One thing is for sure: I totally understand how people loose a ton of weight playing that thing. After a good 5 hours or so of baseball, golf and tennis followed by a sword fight, I can barely lift my right arm... hah! It's a lot of fun though. Even my folks and my grandma are into it! So far all I have is the Sports and the Sports Resort games but I want MORE!!! For those WII-ians (yes, I just made that up...) out there, lemme know what games you like, what you don't, and which ones would be better burned than played :)

Secondly, I now have 2 new additions to my fish tank... My angelfish Koji died last week due to the ick disease so after a solid week of cleaning and treating my tank, I decided two little clouds just wern't enough for me. So I took my friend to the pet store, told her to pick out a fish, and she did. "Nonny" (as she decided to name her) is an angelfish like Koji was, only instead of being black and white, she has some yellow on her... she's also about a quarter of the size! The other one I got was a "Male Sunset Gourami". He is really pretty and fades from a blue to orange. Kinda like this:

Finally, the last thing I did was FINALLY see the new Sex and the City movie. It was really good and had a lot of good laughs. I'm not sure if it was as funny as the first movie was, but hey, how many sequels are?? I now completely understand why my friends call me Charlotte though... heh. As for the people out there that say "I never even seen ONE episode of the show, so I wouldn't get it..." WRONG! I was only introduced to the greatness by watching the first movie... that re-caps everything so you don't have to know. Anyone who hasn't watched it, watch it! :)

So, that's about all for now I guess.
Until next time,
